1. Unplugged Cabins, NR Audley End

Essex is a great romantic destination year-round, and this remote cabin promises a relaxing, peaceful and cozy getaway for the couples. The property owners offer a three day detox in this stunning place surrounded by amazing forest just an hour away from London. 

The cabin is self-contained with a cosy bed, kitchen and a bathroom. If you’re not up to cooking, there are plenty of pubs in walking distance. The place is dog-friendly and did I mention that your phone will be taken and stored in a safety box during your stay? It might be challenging at first, but it helps you focus on the beauty of ‘now’.

2. Sparrow’s Campsite, Halstead

Sparrow’s Campsite is an off-grid dog-friendly campsite in rural Essex. The campsite offers stays in lovely bell tents and can accommodate large groups up to 24 people. Each bell tent sleeps up to 4 people and is furnished.

Shared toilets and showers and cooking/dining areas are easily accessible from the tents. As well, there are wild camping pitches on the site, each with its own private campfire and picnic table. You can play some outdoor games, go hiking, visit the local nature reserve, and more.

3. Lee Wick Farm Glamping, ST Osyth

Lee Wick Farm offers the perfect setting to reset, rest, reset and rejuvenate yourself in an amazing location. The farm has a wide range of glamping accommodation, including pods, lodges and cottages.

MegaPods and CargoPods sleep 2 adults and 2 children and come with a double bed, sofa bed,  toilet, shower room, kitchenette, BBQ, outdoor seating and deck area, and a firepit. CargoPods have a log fired hot tub.

Armadillas sleep 2 in double or twin beds and are equipped with a toilet and shower room, small kitchen area, underfloor heating, mood lighting, BBQ, outdoor seating and private deck, fire pit and a log-fired hot tub.  

Cart Lodge sleeps 10-12 people in 4 bedrooms (2 ensuite bedrooms) and features a main bathroom, open plan kitchen, a lounge area with sea views and a courtyard garden with BBQ.

Stable Cottage sleeps 7 in a family bedroom and a twin bedroom (both ensuite) and features a double sofa bed, open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, log burner and a garden with lounge area and BBQ.

4. Browning Bros Glamping, Great Tey, Colchester

Browning Bros. is a family owned organic farm with a wide range of glamping accommodation just 6 miles away from Colchester. They offer unique glamping experiences at 2 locations – at Tey Brook Orchard and at Chalkney Water Meadows.

Tey Brook Orchard is a secluded glamping spot located between an apple orchard and 20 acres of woodland. The stays are offered in quirky accommodation units, ranging from Bell Tents and Shepherd’s Huts to Mongolian Yurts and Grain Silo.

Chalkney Water Meadows is a beautiful glamping spot located on the edge of a tree-lined lake and surrounded by woodland. The accommodation is offered in Nomadic Bell Tents for up to 5 people per each tent.

All accommodation units come with cosy double beds, furnishings and bedding, a private fire pit, BBQ grill and picnic tables. 

The sites are great for weekend getaway in the countryside. Both locations are just 50 minutes aways from London, but located in a peaceful rural setting.

5. Tatters Barn, Braintree

Tatters Barn is a beautifully converted barn located in the countryside of Withies Green, Essex. 

Ideal for couples and families trips where relaxing in nature is the goal, the 125 acre scenic farm feels like your home away from home.
