I have found 7 exciting sites for you to get well and truly away – check out these amazing places of our favourite glamping South Africa destinations.
1. Buffalo Drift
Located in the Breede River Valley on Ruigtevlei Farm near Tulbagh, Buffalo Drift is a working farm offering a great escape for couples in four secluded glamping tents.
All tents include a double bed or a bunk bed, en-suite bathroom and a kitchenette. Tents come with an access to a private river beach to cool off in the fresh water. This secluded spot is a great place to spend quality time with someone special.
While staying at Buffalo Drift you can enjoy plenty of activities, including hiking, mountain biking, archery, paintball, canoeing, fishing off the banks and more. As well, there are a number of great restaurants and wineries in the area.

2. Sea Shack
Sea Shack is a picturesque retreat located at the water’s edge in Cape Columbine Reserve. This lovely retreat is completely off the grid and powered by gas and solar.
Sea Shack offers accommodation in 10 cosy shacks for up to 2 people. All shacks are equipped with queen or twin beds and quality linen.
Each shack is personalized and themed by the famous artist Theo Kleynhans. Outside of the shacks there are 4 ‘klein huisies’ with showers, eco-toilet, urinal and hand-basin for guests to use.
Sea Shack is only 5 km away from the fishing village of Paternoster where you can find plenty of attractions and restaurants.
If you are looking for on-site activities you can enjoy kayaking, horse riding and beach buggy rides.

3. Vindoux Treehouses
Vindoux is a family-run fruit and wine farm, close to Saronsberg Mountains and picturesque town of Tulbagh.
The farm offers accommodation in four treehouse suites, a self-catering Tree Lodge and rustic cottages. In fact, Vindoux is the only luxury treehouse accommodation in the Western Cape.
All treehouses are set amongst the trees close to the game camp and orchards overlooking wildlife, orchards and majestic mountains. All individually styled, the Treehouses sleep up to 2 people and are equipped with an en-suite bathroom with large spa bath and high quality bed. Tree Lodge sleeps eight and is best suited to families and has a pool.
Vindoux has a day spa, offering a wide range of beauty and relaxation treatments, dining, gym and fishing.

4. Village D’Afrique
Village D’Afrique is located in a beautiful area of the Waterberg district of Limpopo. The Waterberg area is a natural wonder boasting stunning mountains, rich biodiversity, ancient rock art, rolling savannahs and more.
The village offers accommodation in individually decorated and luxury glamping tents. All 4 glamping tents are equipped with a King size bed, a pull-out couch, full bathroom, outside shower and a patio with a seating area.
Village d’Afrique is a great place to slow down, rest, enjoy stunning views and spend some quality time with your loved ones. For the ones looking for some activities there are many hiking trails and cycling roads around or you may opt-in for zip lining, skydiving or horseback riding.

5. Ndzhaka Camp
Ndzhaka Camp is located in the middle of the Manyeleti Game Reserve and bordering Kruger National Park, Sabi Sand and Timbavati Private Nature Reserves. The camp is completely unfenced and wildlife moves freely between all four reserves. If you are looking to see the Big Five, this camp is a perfect place for you.
Located in the heart of the bush, the Ndzhaka Camp is fully catered and offers accommodation in 5 safari tents that sleep up to 2 people with en-suite bathroom and private patio. The camp is electricity-free and uses solar energy and paraffin lanterns at night. On-site you can find a bar, restaurant and a BBQ area.
Guest review: “We have spent 3 nights in Ndzhaka, just amazing!!!! The lodge is very comfortable, there are no fences so animals walk around all day. Elephants, hyenas and nyalas visited the lodge. The food is very nice and the staff are really friendly. We saw the big 5 in 3 days, lions eating a giraffe, a leopard eating an impala…………. At night you can hear the lions roaring , elephants trumpeting…….amazing. If you like nature ….Ndzhaka is the place to stay.”
6. B’sorah Luxury Tented Camp
B’sorah Luxury Tented Camp is located in the Magaliesberg Mountains close to Johannesburg and Pretoria and is perfect for a quick weekend escape from the city. B’sorah offers a stay in luxury glamping tents.

7. Honey Bee Suite
The Honey Bee Suite is an eco-friendly glamping accommodation situated in the heart of Platbos Forest Reserve, just 2 hour of drive from Cape Town.
The Honey Bee Suite sleeps up to 2 people and features a double bed, mosquito net, a kitchenette, a composting toilet and a shower. Hot tub under the white stinkwood tree will give you an amazing “forest bathing” experience.
As for the activities you can explore local trails, visit local wineries, go whale watching, enjoy a day on the beach and more in the surrounding area. This site is a great way to go off the grid but still enjoy luxury combined with the relaxing holiday.
