Guide sections 8

Glamping in the Everglades includes listed eco-tents at Flamingo, as well as private stay outside park gateways. Newer NPS eating-and-sleeping details list the Flamingo options. Do not use an older lodging page as proof that only bare campsites exist in the park today.

Choose the visitor area and route first. A Flamingo stay, a Homestead-side gateway room and a western gateway base serve different park days. Ask the current room host what it supplies for your dates.

Trail Lakes Campground: compare room options

Trip.com listing checked 16 October 2026. This link opens the property listing. Select your exact room and dates there; the host's room description below does not guarantee that the same unit is sold on Trip.com.

The Ochopee site fits a Tamiami Trail trip on the western side. Keep nearby Big Cypress exploration separate from a long drive to Flamingo, since the two settings do not share one easy entrance.

Trail Lakes Campground offers traditional chickee cottages at Ochopee on the Tamiami Trail. The host describes them as primitive native-style camping room. This is a more rustic shelter than a heated or cooled lodge room. Ask for the current bed, linen, insect-screen and bathroom details before choosing it, and plan for outdoor conditions rather than assuming hotel features. See stay details.

Primitive shelter; confirm bed, linen and bathroom details.

Ivey House Basic King Room

An Everglades City hotel can be more practical when western boat or paddling outings shape the visit. Compare its room with the rustic Ochopee shelter on privacy and cooling, not on whether both get called an Everglades stay.

Ivey House lists a Basic King Room with a king bed and private bathroom with a shower. Its room page also lists air conditioning (AC), heat, Wi-Fi and a mini-fridge among hotel amenities. This is a hotel option in Everglades City, on the western side of the area. It can fit a western trip without pretending to be a tent inside Everglades National Park. See stay details.

Hotel option on the western side, not an in-park tent.

Trail Lakes Campground

Compare this Ochopee property for an Everglades-area cottage or bungalow stay; confirm the Chickee unit separately if that shelter is essential.

Keep in mind: The precise Chickee Cottage room type is not confirmed on Trip.com; compare the selected accommodation before reserving. Trip.com lists this as Everglades Chickee Cottage & Bungalow - Ochopee.

Flamingo Winter Glamping Tent

Choose the winter tent for a Flamingo and Florida Bay trip, allowing enough time on the southern park road. In October the furnished winter type has not yet begun; use its November-April dates when comparing this pick.

Flamingo lists furnished winter glamping from November 1 through April 30. Tents have beds and linens, a fan and power, on raised platforms with at least a partial Florida Bay view. Bathrooms are in a locked shared facility for glamping guests. Summer glamping has a different package, so do not carry winter bed and linen details into a summer booking.

Winter furnished setup runs November 1-April 30; summer differs.

Factors to consider when choosing an Everglades stay: plan for wet and dry seasons

The NPS weather page describes wet and dry seasons. Those seasons affect your time outside. But no season guarantees a comfortable day. Check the forecast and the exact room features before travel.

Ask how the tent screens work and what is supplied for the sleeping area. Keep insect protection suitable to your plans, and follow product steps. A fabric room is still open to more of the outdoors than a sealed hotel room.

If heat or damp air does not suit your group, change dates or rooms. Check the installed cooling. An open date on a calendar does not show that a fabric room suits everyone.

Glamping in Everglades country: keep park days and rooms separate

Choose the visitor areas you want and check the route between them. A gateway room can serve nearby outings well. It may not suit a day loop through the whole park. Leave time for arrival and avoid a long first-day drive through several areas.

Check the food and water, plus service plan for the outing. Use current NPS details for each visitor area. The room's supplies should not be counted as a substitute for the day kit you carry.

Read stay cancellation terms alongside weather and park notices. A changed outing may not release your room booking. Keep a backup close to the same route. Change dates when conditions do not suit the trip.

FAQ

Are eco-tents currently part of the park lodging choices?

Newer NPS visitor and eating-and-sleeping pages document eco-tents and glamping options at Flamingo. An older lodging page is inconsistent with those newer records. Use the current host description for your exact seasonal room setup. Then check the park route and features before booking. We do not infer live availability from that listing.

Can I book the furnished Flamingo winter tent in October?

The host lists the furnished winter type from November 1 through April 30. On our 14 October check that season had not begun. Its summer glamping page describes a different setup. Read the package for the actual dates, rather than expecting winter beds and linens from a summer or October booking.

Should I choose Ochopee or Everglades City instead of Flamingo?

Ochopee and Everglades City fit a western Tamiami Trail or coastal trip, while Flamingo is reached through the southern park road. Choose the side that matches your outings. The Trail Lakes chickee is primitive shelter; Ivey House is a hotel option. Neither should be described as a tent at Flamingo.
