Planning an outdoor trip to Sweden? If so, you’re in luck. I’ve prepared a list of 9 best tents, treehouses, domes and more for your glamping Sweden holiday. 

If you are an outdoor lover, Sweden has so many opportunities for you to get closer to nature in quite unique settings. From stunning treehouses and luxury domes to unique ice-hotels, the options are endless.

Northern Sweden and Lapland are already known for their off-grid glamping accommodations and are popular among glampers who want to experience the Northern Lights in wintertime and the midnight sun in the summer. 

Central Sweden offers some of the best forest stays with beautiful views on mountain peaks. South Sweden offers forest retreats, beachfront accommodations and floating saunas. 

Here, I have put together a list of 9 best Glamping Sweden spots for you to choose from.

1. Ice Hotel, Jukkasjärvi

Located in Jukkasjärvi in the north of Sweden, the Icehotel features rooms made out of ice from the Torne River closeby. 

There are also warm rooms available, a sauna, wood-burning hot tub and ice bath. The rooms are holding a temperature between -5 to -8 degrees Celsius and are equipped with hand-carved ice furnishings. 

You will be sleeping in thermal sleeping bags on beds covered with reindeer hides. All rooms are equipped with a dining area, private bathroom and TV. 

There is a restaurant on-site that serves traditional dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Warm lounge is great to relax with some hot drinks, cocktails and snacks.

While staying at Ice Hotel you may join a free guided tour of the hotel. The surrounding area is known for outdoor activities including dog sledding, reindeer sled tours and snowmobile tours. In summer time popular activities are river rafting, hiking, and fishing. In summer time you will experience midnight sun and in winter time northern lights.

2. Aurora Safari Camp, Gunnarsbyn

Aurora Safari Camp was created by photographer Fredrik Broman, who was inspired by African safari camps and wanted to bring that experience far north.

The Camp is located in Lapland close to the Råne River. Described as wild and peaceful, the camp doesn’t have any artificial lights in order to provide the best Northern Lights experience.

The accommodation is provided in 4 comfortable and heated Lavvu Rooms that can be arranged as double, twin or family rooms. There is a lounge area onsite serving drinks, a restaurant and floating sauna.

While staying at Aurora Safari Camp you can explore the area in many different ways. During winter you can enjoy snowshoeing, fat biking, nordic skiing or dog sledding. Summer is great for hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and boat tours.

3. Kolarbyn Eco Lodge, Skinnskatteberg, Västmanland

Located within a beautiful spruce forest outside Skinnskatteberg you can find an eco-friendly Kolarbyn glamping site that consists of twelve cosy charcoal huts. All huts are equipped with two bunk beds, inflatable mattresses and warm sheepskin rugs. Compost toilets are located outside of the huts.

Here are some of the popular activities when staying at lodge: hiking, horseback riding, moose safari, wildlife watching, birdwatching, beaver safari, guided fishing, snowshoe hiking and bushcraft/survival techniques.

This off-grid lodge is also called “Sweden’s most primitive hotel”. Forest huts don’t have showers or electricity. So prepare yourself to travel back in time and explore the mysterious spruce forest.

Guest review: “ A piece of heaven! We spent 3 wonderful nights at Kolarbyn. The huts surrounded by the forest and a beautiful lake are just magical. We chopped wood and learnt to start our own fire to cook or to warm up the floating sauna. We woke up everyday with the sound of birds. Malin, the site manager (and her adorable dog :)) is extremely nice and helpful. Highly recommended!”


4. Island Treehouse, Haverö

Island Treehouse is a unique type of accommodation located on an isolated island in the stunning forest lake Havern. The two storey treehouse sleeps 4 and is equipped with two double beds, outdoor kitchen and a BBQ. There is a separate building with a summer shower and earth closet.

The treehouse is accessible only by boat. It is a popular place among fishermen, as the lake Havern is rich with pike and bass. The property offers a fishing guide and the fishing licence is included in your stay.

If you are not into fishing, the island is a great place to log off and connect with nature and enjoy crystal clear lake and tranquil surroundings.

5. Tree Hotel, Harads

Treehotel offers a unique glamping experience in their treetop cabins, all different in design and shape, from a UFO cabin, to the Bird’s Nest, in the beautiful surroundings. 

All cabins have modern interiors and overlook the valley and river and are perfect for watching the Northern lights. 

All cabins are equipped with bio toilets, electricity, floor heating and AC. The toilets are located nearby. The cabins are accessible by ramp, bridge, or electric stairs.

There is even a tree sauna and a hot tub. While staying there you can enjoy plenty of Lapland activities, including snowmobile safari, Northern Lights snowmobile tours, ice fishing, snowshoe walking, yoga on ice, moose safari and more.

6. Hobbit Stockholm, Nacka

Hobbit Stockholm offers stays in a beautiful hobbit house, located in Nacka, 15 min of drive from Stockholm. Hobbit house is located on a beachfront with an access to a patio and beautiful garden views. It sleeps 2 and comes with cosy beds, seating area, TV, kitchen and a fireplace.

7. Boeing 747 Jumbo Stay, Stockholm

8. Luxury Glamping Countryside, Fjärdhundra

Just 1 hour of drive from Stockholm, Luxury Glamp Countryside in Fjärdhundra is a great place for a weekend getaway. The site has 5 glamping tents surrounded by woods and fields. Each tent sleeps 2 and comes with cosy beds, electricity, heating and a deck.

Outside you can find shared bathrooms and kitchen, as well as BBQ, hot tub, garden and beach volleyball courts. Great place for everyone looking to escape daily grind and enjoy the serenity of the countryside.

9. Aurora Dome, Kiruna

Aurora Dome is a great pick for your next glamping getaway to wilderness. Aurora Dome is located in Kiruna, close to the mountain Luossavaara.

The site offers glamping in small domes for 2 people and bigger domes for up to 4 people. All domes are heated and come with cosy double beds. Guests have access to a shared bathroom, sauna, jacuzzi and relaxation area. 

The site owns Huskies and runs sledding tours. A must visit for everyone looking for an adventure with a great level of comfort.
